Levels

Lindy Hop

Shorty 

I’ve started dancing not a long time ago. I know my lindy hop basics. I try dancing at all tempos, but I’m not exactly comfortable with higher tempos. I can define the rhythm and I have my variations, but I need some time with trying rhythms and shapes.

Norma

I’ve been dancing for a few years now. I practice my basics at every tempo and work on the details. I practice besides my weekly classes. I understand the rhythm further and can improvise through them. I can handle fast-paced classes.

Jazz

Tops 

I know my root moves and can improvise through them. I can exchange ideas and jam with other dancers. I can define the rhythm and follow it with my body. I can come up with ideas and communicate them with others. I feel comfortable speeding up the tempo and following through a fast-paced class. 

Wilder

I’m practicing my applejacks, charleston and breaks. I can feel and follow the rhythm with my feet. I have a basic understanding of rhythm and play around higher tempos. I can follow a well-paced class. 

Alternative

I’ve a deeper interest and understanding of the roots of jazz. I listen to other styles of jazz and can move to them. I can define and improvise through rhythm instantly. I can get into difficult shapes and concepts. I know what you mean when you say ‘’bebop’’!
